Natural Solutions for Children’s Allergies

It seems I have genetically passed down my curse to my three daughters of terrible seasonal allergies. If your family suffers from seasonal allergies, you know what I’m talking about: red eyes, runny noses, allergies turning into sickness, constantly questioning whether your children have colds or allergies and constantly questioning sending them to school/preschool. I hate having to say things to my girls like don’t pick those flowers or don’t touch the grass, because I know it is going to result in a big flare-up of allergy symptoms. That is a miserable way to live!

This past Spring I gave my children (then four, six, and six) Children’s Claritin every single day. We used the liquid kind because it was more affordable than the tablets. When I gave my girls doses according to package instructions, we used up more than a bottle of allergy medicine every week.  We were going through six bottles a month!

When summer came, I was able to stop the allergy medicine (seasonal allergies were drawing to an end). I gave my kids two Incredivites every single day. This was the healthiest summer of my girls’ life! This fall, when it was time to start seasonal allergy medicine again, I decided to take a chance and gave my girls two vitamin C chewables each day instead of allergy medicine.

I have not had to buy a single bottle of allergy medicine.

My children have not had red eyes or runny noses. They are healthy, healthy, healthy.

Maybe we are being blessed, because this pregnancy is enough sickness for me to handle. I don’t exactly know why this is working for us, all I know is that we used to spend at least $60 a month in allergy medicine and now I spend $24 every 50 days on chewable vitamin C (for all three children). Even better than saving the money, is having my girls feel good.

Natural Allergy Solutions

If you are interested in trying what we do:

  • We give each child (five, seven, and seven) two Incredivites every day. {Order Incredivites HERE.}
  • We give each child two Vitamin C chewables every day. {Order Chewable Vitamin C HERE.}
  • We have a humidifier running in each bedroom to help with dryness. The first night-time bloody nose of each season is my usual unfortunate reminder that it is time to pull out the humidifier.

Even though the air is cooling down and seasonal allergens are calming down, I think I’m going to continue the Vitamin C throughout the winter to see if we can also avoid the flu and strep throat and whatever else is out there!

I’d like to thank everyone who supported my business last month. Even though October had difficult moments health-wise for me with this pregnancy, you helped me beat all of my business goals for October! My readers are THE BEST!!

  1. Thank you for the reminder of taking vitamin C, I have horrible allergies year round and my doctor recommends I take 3,000mg a day for myself. My children unfortunately inherited allergies themselves but not as bad. We all do seem better health-wise when taking our vitamins. Thank you for sharing your success!
